This interactive program for children (ages 7 to 12) and their families is designed to teach children to work in cooperation with their parents and health care professionals to improve their knowledge, decision-making skills and self-management behaviors. Children and families attend 3 group sessions separately, then come together to share knowledge. This program has been validated through formal research as an effective patient education program and recognized by CDC as a potentially effective educational intervention. Asthma Basics for Childrenbasics
This program is designed to help early childhood educators and parents of children (newborn through age 6) learn to manage asthma. The program includes curriculum to educate both early childhood educators and parents of young children with asthma about the basics of asthma management. In addition, early childhood educators learn how to create an asthma program at their child care center. Separate handbooks for early childhood educators and parents both reinforce the curriculum and provide practical activities for preschool age children to learn about asthma.
