Patient-Focused Drug Development

Patient-focused drug development (PFDD) intiatives seek to understand the needs of people living with various diseases including atopic dermatitis, asthma, and food allergies.

AAFA has collaborated with several nonprofit organizations to create a series of opportunities for your perspective to inform and shape development of drugs and medical devices designed to treat atopic dermatitis (eczema), asthma, and food allergy.

Together, we co-hosted three patient-focused drug development (PFDD) meetings in the Washington, D.C. area. These meetings provided our community opportunities to speak directly to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) staff, representatives of pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and other key stakeholders.

The testimonies and surveys from each of these meetings informed the publication of Voice of the Patient reports.

Your voice and perspectives are essential for us to demonstrate the impact of these conditions on individuals and families. It helps drive research to focus on patient and family needs.
