Patient-Centered Education and Care for Nasal Polyps (PEACE-NP)

Managing nasal polyps can be frustrating. Getting the right diagnosis takes time, and finding the care that works for you can feel overwhelming. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) worked with leading nasal polyps experts to create the Patient-Centered Education and Care for Nasal Polyps (PEACE-NP) program.

PEACE-NP offers a free video series and a sinus visit checklist to give you the tools to work with your doctor and manage nasal polyps.

PEACE-NP was developed by AAFA in collaboration with top experts: Tanya Laidlaw, MD, Kathleen Buchheit, MD, and Stella Lee, MD.

Understanding Nasal Polyps — A New Video Series

In our new video series, we ask experts to talk about different topics related to nasal polyps. Watch the recorded sessions below.

Part 1: Nasal Polyps Basics

In the first part of this series, Dr. Stella Lee and Dr. Tanya Laidlaw talk about the basics of nasal polyps. Learn what nasal polyps are, how they develop, and how they are diagnosed. This video is a great starting point if you are newly diagnosed or still learning about nasal polyps.

Part 2: Standard Treatment Options

In the second part of the series, AAFA is joined by 2 allergists to talk about the standard treatments for nasal polyps. Learn more about nasal steroids, saline rinses, and oral steroids.

Dr. Tanya Laidlaw and Dr. Kathleen Buchheit walk through what to expect from each option, including benefits, techniques, and potential side effects. They also talk about when you might consider more advanced treatments (like biologics) or surgery.

Part 3: Biologic Treatment Options

In the third part of the series, AAFA is joined by 2 allergists to talk about advanced treatment options (biologic medicines) for nasal polyps.

Dr. Tanya Laidlaw and Dr. Kathleen Buchheit explain how biologics work and who may be a candidate for these options. They also talk about comorbid diseases, benefits and potential side effects of biologics, and the road to getting biologics.

Coming Soon! Stay tuned for the next videos in this series. We will tackle common myths and misconceptions about nasal polyps. And we’ll take a deep dive into surgical options for nasal polyps.
